The Art of Fragrance

When creating new products, we test out different combinations of essential oils to create exciting new fragrances. The fragrances of essential oils affect our emotions in different ways and, for example, can have a relaxing, calming or uplifting effect.

When we mix essential oils, we need to create the right balance, so we use a combination of top notes, middle notes and base notes. Top notes include Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lavender, Lemon and Basil, while essential oils of Geranium, Fennel, Rose and Clary Sage are middle notes, and Frankincense, Sandalwood, Vetiver and Ginger are base notes.

We experiment to find which combinations work well together. The fragrances develop over time, so we need to leave them for a while before deciding on which combinations to use. They have thrown up some surprises – some are surprisingly good and some not so good! Different fragrances suit different people so we also canvas opinion from family and friends.

Essential oils have a much more natural, gentle and fresh fragrance than artificial fragrances, which can be quite harsh, and essential oils also have a wide range of health benefits, which artificial fragrances don’t. It is this combination of wonderful fragrance and health benefits that makes us so passionate about using essential oils in our products.
