Rose Essential Oil
The Power of the Rose?
The rose has long been associated with romance, because of its delicate beauty and its wonderful fragrance, but it’s also been valued for its healing properties and used as a beauty treatment for centuries. It’s believed to be the first flower from which essential oil was distilled as long ago as the 10th Century in Persia.
Its association with eternal youth may be due to its anti-ageing properties. Rose Essential Oil is suitable for all skin types and is non-toxic, non-irritant and has no known contraindications. Its very complex chemistry is believed be the source of its long list of health benefits, which are gained by absorbing the oil through the skin.
Rose Essential Oil is a key ingredient in our Rose and Geranium Facial Oil because of its many properties that make it ideal for natural skin care products, especially for mature skins, as it protects against the signs of ageing. Rose essential oil is an astringent, so it tones and lifts the skin, tightening pores and protecting against wrinkles. It also tightens capillaries, diminishing redness and thread veins.
Rose Essential Oil and Rosehip Oil both contain powerful antioxidants, which can help to protect against free radical damage from the elements as well as the ageing process. They spur on the healing process of the skin and can reduce the appearance of scars, such as acne scars, stretch marks or even scars from surgery. They can also reduce skin pigmentation and age spots.
Rose essential oil is also known for its antidepressant properties and is good for treating anxiety, stress and tension. Its uplifting fragrance is nurturing and relaxing. It also protects against the loss of muscle firmness and is an ingredient in our Rose Body Oil, along with Rosewood Essential Oil and Rosehip Oil.
Despite having been used for centuries, it’s incredible that people are still discovering the amazing properties of the rose for the first time!
